GFF CEO Amr Mansy: 5,500 accreditations and 22,000 tickets sold last week

El Gouna Film Festival CEO Amr Mansy said during the closing ceremony of the seventh edition of the El Gouna Film Festival:

“Over the past years, we have been facing rumors about the festival being a festival for the elite, and a festival of dresses & fashion, despite the fact that from the first day he has been working on the industry, and the credit for that goes to my colleague, critic Intishal Al-Tamimi (the former director of the festival), who laid the foundation for this festival and we are continuing after him. He may not have been able to be with us this year, but he and Bushra were working on many things within the festival.”

The festival’s executive director added:

“Last year we said in the press conference that we care about the industry, so I will talk in numbers, the number of accreditations reached 800, this year the number reached 5,500 requests, also the number of tickets this year we reached 22 thousand cinema tickets, and in the market 22 companies from Egypt and the Arab world participated with us this year.”

Mansy said: “This festival can be one of the most important festivals in the world, because Egypt deserves it and the city of El Gouna has all the capabilities.”

Mansy concluded his speech by saying: “This year is the year in which the state has stood by us the most, especially the Ministry of Culture and the Governor of the Red Sea, as well as the support provided to us by Engineer Samih Sawiris and Engineer Naguib Sawiris, especially last year and their insistence on holding the festival despite the surrounding circumstances
