CIFF Moments: Danis Tanović’s Piano Performance

Danis Tanović, the esteemed President of the International Competition Jury at the Cairo International Film Festival, captivated attendees with a remarkable piano performance. Festival President Hussein Fahmy was among those who enjoyed this special moment.

Born in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tanović is a celebrated filmmaker known for his 2001 film No Man’s Land, which earned an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. Over his career, he has received numerous prestigious accolades, including the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival for An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker (2013) and Death in Sarajevo (2016).

The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), now in its 45th edition, was founded in 1976 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the Arab world and Africa. Held annually in Egypt’s vibrant capital, CIFF has become a vital cultural event, showcasing a diverse selection of films from around the globe.
