After weeks of her appearance confirming, Syrian actress Raghda suddenly announced not showing in her tribute by (AMFF) Alexandria Mediterranean film festival !
Critic Al-Amir Abaza, Director of Alexandria Film Festival explained that Raghda, will be get her tribute, despite her apology for attending, due to her own special circumstances.
Raghda’s appearance wasn’t the only factor of low morale of the audience, A statement by the festival press office :
“Due to the unstable climatic conditions that Alexandria Governorate is going through, the administration of the Alexandria Film Festival decided to start the festival’s activities on time tomorrow with screenings and seminars for honorees.
Canceling the opening ceremony,won’t change the schedule of the first shows of begin tomorrow at Renaissance Cinema and the Freedom Center for Creativity. And the Alexandria Atelier, and the honored symposiums will begin in the Ezzat Al-Alayli Hall at the Sheraton Montazah Hotel.
The statement added: “The festival management also decided to honor the honorees during their honor symposiums, which start tomorrow at 11AM.
A symposium on the name of the late director of photography, Abdel Aziz Fahmy, in the presence of his brother, the artist Latifa Fahmy and her sister Nelly Fahmy, followed by the symposium of the great artist Farid Shawqi, in the presence of his family, the star Rania Farid Shawqi and her sister, director Abeer Farid Shawky, and his wife, Mrs. Soheir Turk.
Tomorrow’s seminars will conclude with a symposium by director Enas El Degheidy.. The festival management thanks Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, for her support and sponsorship of the festival.
It also thanks Mohamed El Sherif, Governor of Alexandria, for their support of the festival’s activities and events, while taking the necessary procedures. As a precautionary measure, not to hold any celebrations in closed areas, in accordance with the decisions of the Council of Ministers.
